It also benefits from a mild Northern California climate and being situated near both the coast and the rolling hills of California's wine-producing region.

For travelers in search of more adventure than the city has to offer, there are thrills to be found in countless other areas of the United States. If you are in search of great destinations for rock-climbing or hiking, the national parks in Western North Carolina and Red River Gorge in Eastern Kentucky are ideal locations near the East Coast. In the West, there are gorgeous forests stretching from Northern California up through Washington, or, for the more daring travelers, trekking in the wilderness of Alaska.
