Parga
Parga is located on Greece's western coast. It is a small town that sits between Preveza and Igoumenitsa in the popular Epirus region. Foreign tourism is a fairly new concept for this area. The number of people who visit from other countries is still so low that Parga still feels very genuine and offers great Greek hospitality. However, it can get busy during the peak travel season, when native Greeks come to visit.
People can come to Parga by utilizing two modes of transportation. They can either come by bus or they can come by boat. The buses come from the neighboring towns, and the boat travels over from Corfu. Because Parga is such a small place, people can get around on foot. They can take boats to reach the popular Valtos and Lichnos beaches. However, even those can be reached by foot. Cars and scooter can be rented for trips to Parga's surrounding areas.
An old fortress sits on the hill that separates Krioneri and Valtos beaches. It was built during the fourteenth century. Great views can be had from this ancient fortress' walls. However, tourists should be aware that they may very well encounter snakes around the area. The fortress offers a view of the Ali Pasha Castle. Ali Pasha is known to be the archenemy of every person in Parga. This scoundrel tried to shoot the fortress with his cannons. Ever since, he has been known as the archenemy of all of Parma's residents.
Parga is a very beautiful place that has a great deal to offer people during their relaxing holidays. There is a wealth of rich history for visitors to enjoy. People who are not very interested in history can enjoy the gorgeous beaches, the delicious food, and the warm hospitality of the town's people.
