Pefkos

It is said that the allure and beauty of the Greek island of Rhodes is enough to turn smitten island hoppers into inhabitants. Within this paradise, there is a particularly beautiful nook called Pefkos, an ideal destination for vacationers who are just looking to relax.

A Little History

Pefkos, or literally “pine tree,” began developing out of necessity. The nearby region of Lindos, which is not able to feature any new tourism accommodations because of its historical value, was in need of a satellite location where tourists could stay and explore the area. In the late 80s and early 90s, construction of Pefkos was underway. The resort today is a modest row of hotels and apartments that run right along the beach. From Pefkos, one can easily traverse the scenic 2 miles to Lindos to explore the acropolis of Lindos, the capital of the island, and several other attractions.

The Beach At Pefkos

The beach at Pefkos is a sensory experience rivaled by few other beaches. The gentle sea breeze taxies the smell of pine, hence the name of the resort, right to the lazy sunbathers on the sand, where they fight the good fight to stay awake. The kind of bay, due to the village style community and the calmness of the water and bathers, is often referred to as a “sleepy” or “lazy” bay. Essentially, the beach at Pefkos is one of the most beautiful if not the most beautiful of beaches in the entire world.

Who All Should Go?

Much like many other Greek islands, Pefkos is set up in such a way that vacationers can opt for the quiet and relaxing village scene, fun and crazy parties, or both. The resort is romantic enough for couples and honeymooners while more than enough fun for everyone else.
