Santa Eulalia Travel Guide

A former haven for expatriate artists, most visitors to Santa Eulalia del Río are now middle-class travelers from northern Europe. Although quieter than other parts of the island it is know for its palm-tree lined beach promenade and good restaurants.

Church
Santa Eulalia sits below the 16th century fortress church on the hilltop of Puig de Missa. Visit the church to see the ornate Gothic altar screen. As its name suggests it sits on the river and is a more authentic quality than the nearby major towns.

Beaches
The biggest attractions in Santa Eulalia are the beaches. Go to the harbor front to take a bus or boat to the famous beaches. North of town is the Aigües Blanques and the Es Caná beach with white sands. South of town is the Cala Llonga, which is more crowded because of the beachside hotels.

Shopping
Two nearby markets are found in Es Canar every Wednesday in the summer and in Sant Carles, Las Dalias market is every Saturday. There is a night market here on Mondays in the summer. Almost every local village has a weekly market where you can shop with the locals.

Nearby Ciudad de Ibiza
The capital of Ibiza is only a 45 minute boat ride away. Boats and buses leave every hour. This 2500 year old town with its whitewashed houses and cobblestone streets is a great day trip. The marina area is a place to people watch; from fisherman to woman clothed in all black. On the waterfront visit art galleries and small shops and stop for a drink in a harbor side bar. At night the discos and night clubs are in full swing.
